HDC & Suspension Fault, Special program not available
Hi All,
I'm new to the world of discovery. Recently bought a 2005 Model V6 TDVC Automatic Diesel from a private seller with no service history but the vehicle looks clean.
It's got 166k on the clock but the engine sounds good.
However I'm having a combination of faults on the dash board (pictures attached)- HDC Fault, Suspension faulty, Normal heights only, special program not available and the break/ disk light on.
I luckily saw this Goldmine of a website proudly displayed on a Disco 3 in a car park in Warley and checked on it out of curiosity - Someone please help! I'm a complete novice.

It looks as though you have a air suspension fault but you need to get the actual faults read you said it's normal height only so it's not on bump stops it could be the compressor the valve blocks or breaks /abs sensor or steering angle most of these are as bad as they sound Discovery 3 se gone

I'll contact Geoff as advised. I think He's about 22 mile s away from me. Meanwhile , I forgot to mention that I could hear the compressor working but ussually cuts out after a while.

No probs on here it is geoff. with the got at the end there are also others on here there are so many different things that bring on the Christmas tree lights they need to be read so they can be understood properly Discovery 3 se gone

..culprits include brake switch, rear bulbs & steering angle sensor, however another likely one is the battery voltage it seems - make sure the battery is decent and the alternator is giving good charge before starting on anything else. A dying battery will manifest itself all over a Disco where you wouldn't expect it.

HDC Fault Update
Hi All,
I was able to get rid of the red brake light by changing the ABS pump and clearing the faults but It's still coming up with HDC ,suspension fault and special program unavailable as well as the normal heights only faults (picture attached).
I got a local mechanic to check with his diagnostics tool and it currently comes up with YAW rate sensor LR ( Code C1A98); I noticed that the driver's seat heater is not working while the others are working perfectly.
Then each of my front Tyre is not evenly worn - inner part of each seems to worn faster than outer part.
Any advise on how to proceed will be highly appreciated please.

..just a note on the tyres - that is a perfectly normal wear pattern so don't put it into the mix for your fault. Even if your tracking is way out (which yours isn't), this is thankfully a "manual" bit of the car still!

What!!!
I'm sorry but it's not a perfectly normal wear pattern at all.
There's no reason why you can't expect even tyre wear with Discovery ownership. You must also remember the whole of the cars geometry relies very heavily on the running gear being correctly aligned, when it's not, all sorts of issues can raise their head including symptons very similar to what is being described here.
The forum is full of advice regarding getting an accurate 4 wheel alignment performed to prevent uneven tyre wear and loss of special programs errors so to suggest otherwise is just not correct.Mods:

Tyres always wear more on the inside than the outside at the front due to the dynamics of cornering.
Note the inside edge of the inner wheel is the only bit on the road.
