Its far from being the first. This is the Africar, based on 2CV running gear, with a plywood body. Done in the 70's!

We could do with one of those on our shoot. Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Yes. Only six weeks to our first shoot. I start dogging in tomorrow having finished the stiles maintenance for the summer. Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
I think the designer has been looking at the 101FC Land Rover.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Saw it on the news at lunchtime, like the idea that the tailgate comes off to make a ramp for loading/letting animals in/out.

Brilliant.
No split tailgate though, so I'm out!
Not only a split tailgate, but a split tailgate that can be detached and reattached as a loading ramp.
The more I look at the details the more impressed I am with this vehicle. I could keep one semi assembled in the garage and just put it together for those occasions that I need a van.
Would the self-build nature make it immune from the usual crash testing etc?
