Odd parking sensor issue
Not sure if this belongs here or in the technical forum...however..
My 2005 HSE has an odd issue with the parking sensor system. I've searched in vain so far but cannot see anything similar.
To cut a long stort short, they work fine on initial start up. They bleep just as they should. However after I have driven a few miles, and it does have to be around that distance, and slow down to almost a stop, then the front sensors alarm constantly.
I've had my ear down to each of the sensors whilst the alarm is sounding, all are softly clicking as I would expect.
If i turn the switch off, the alarms stops, only to start again if I turn it back on. The light on the switch is constant not flashing.
Any ideas please?

I had the smallest of nicks in one of the sensor wires on my D3. Caused similar issues. Good luck.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

How did you get on infiltrator? I just picked up a 54 plate Disco 3 HSE last week and exactly the same thing happened to me on my way home, I cruised to a stop at a set of traffic lights after doing 40 odd miles when I got a beeping sound for 4-5 seconds, it did again in similar situations all the way home after that, I text the owner who suggested it might be the sensors (he did state these played up in the advert so no issues with him), curious to know how you got on and if it was the same problem as LT?

Pressing the P button on the dash stops the noise (and the front and rear sensors working)

Not so well....I suppose that the answer I can give is that it has turned very intermittent. It hasn't done it for a month or so, and yet tonight, driving back from the Midlands to the South West, it did it just in the last ten miles. All very odd.
I've had the code reader ready to hook up as soon as it started, and initally, it was just one of the front sensors showing as reading something (inner left), so I immediately suspected it was the sensor (despite it clicking normally, however at the next slow down it was showing as the two inner sensors reading something too...so now, I'm not so sure. I suspect that it's either the loom or, more likely the control unit playing up...
I was hoping that someone had come across this issue before, but looks like that we are the only two eh?
At present, I can live with it, as long as it stays so intermittent. I'll just cancel with the P button, but I suspect that it will eventually annoy me some much I'll have to start ripping stuff out to find out what is going on....I'd be really obliged if you'd let me know if you get any further with it....I'll certainly do the same for you.

It sounds like a wiring problem to multiple sensors. Could be two wires have been almost rubbed through. Although the wiring loom in bumper is know to fail by becoming brittle it seems less likely two would fail at same time. I would start by tracing the wires back down the loom from the connector that joins the loom to bumper wiring.
Taking bumper off is not difficult job.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

I'm the same as you, I can live with it for the time being and just turn them off if they start playing up. I will get them looked at in the near future and when I do I'll post my findings on here.
Fingers crossed its a simple fix.

Found my front parking sensor fault today whilst checking wiring as my air suspension has a fault.
Removed front bumper and found the loom had been chafing and had nearly cut through three wires. You maybe able to see it behind the o/s fog light. Not sure.
