2010 D4 Service
I've got my D4 booked in for a service on Friday, from what I gather it's not due its cam belt until next year at 7 years old, it's covered just shy of 80k but I do a lot of miles in it, and I'm starting to wonder whether I'd be better off having the belt done while it's in on Friday rather than leave it another year as I could easily cover another 15-20k miles in that time - so I just thought I'd ask on here as there must be a few people in the same position (i.e. with 2010 models), what's the general consensus, is it OK to leave it right up to the schedule or is it best to be cautious and change the belt now?
Its down to personal choice but where do you draw the line? I work on the basis that LR have built in a safety factor and if they say 7 yrs/112k miles (or whatever it is) then that will probably be ok. Now if my service was less than a year and my annual mileage away from the limit, then yes, I would do it early for the convenience of not having to take it in again. But if the next service would still fall before the limit, Id leave it til that one.
Note: If your timing belt fails early because you listened to me, its not my fault....

I'd be more worried about whether or not it's going to seize before the next service, might be worth asking if they can carry out any checks, boroscope in the sump maybe, on the bearings to make sure they are happy there's nothing a miss with the bottom end.

Agree with Swansty - particularly if you have full dealer service history.

I had mine done at 98K, just because of the next service date would have exceeded 7 years
