If they are going to be as good as the DS event I went to I think I'll stay at home. I spent more in time and fuel being there than I got out of it. Even the sandwiches were curled!A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Ah, but at least you can eat your curled sandwiches on the new 'event platform' (or whatever it's called) at the D5 launch!!!! They could rename it the "Buffet Platform".

I can't see that electronically extending platform being standard, I bet it costs a grand at least as an option, I love my little rear seat come table, wherever I am, I can drink a flask of tea in comfort and (for the most part) out of the rain.David

Standard it may not be, but it will feature on one of the first showroom cars for sure!!! Along with just about every perceivable option and a price tag exceeding £75k I'm sure. The usual pattern is that there is a global launch, in this case at the Paris Motor Show (and the actual "reveal" will almost certainly be one one of the press days before the public get anywhere near it!). Then there will be dealer invite events, where staff from dealers get offered the chance to go to a location somewhere in Europe (for European dealerships) where they will have a day out at a hotel with an off road course to test the new arrivals out. After that each country will have their own launch events, again for the media, and again at a hotel with an off road course etc.
Only after that will each dealer have some sort of low key event for the buying public to attend, coffee and sandwiches and a chance to test drive etc.
But it is a great idea to keep a list of these events that people can just turn up to. I still think Paris is the best bet....if you want to see the new Discovery quickly.2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

My father is a keen birdwatcher, and often goes off when he gets word of a rare sighting and joins other likeminded people at wherever the sighting is....
I suppose we could always mount a roster close to the Solihull factory entrances in the coming weeks and observe vehicles leaving!

My salesmans always tried the cars out in Britain. Disco Sport was launched in Paris but no separate launch for the UK and it had an online reveal prior to its motor show launch. Deposit paying customers were invited to Gleneagles to view the car which was OK, nothing spectacular.
This will be the 3rd new LR I've bought from launch and they have all been the same so I don't expect this one to be any different.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

had multiple dealers contact me over last few days one said they are expecting briefing packs mid - late October so that ties in with the press getting their hands on it. One also said it WILL have the same litres of storage as the D4 but we all know Litres and practical load space can be very different things!MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
