Cubby Box Cooler Problem

My cubby box cooler only works intermittently and when it does it can sometimes stay on and drain the battery. There's supposed to be a failsafe system to stop this happening but its obviously not working ! Anyone know where this voltage sensor is located ? Is it in the main vehicle management system or is it built into the cubby box cooler itself ?

I believe I have a D4 one installed in my D3. Have it there a couple of weeks and was quite careful with its sue during recent trip to France - however on the last day the run to the ferry was a little 'under pressure' and forgot to turn it off. Next morning as we were ready to disembark, turned the key and all the usual lights came one, then click click click. Nothing. Needed a boost from the loading crew on board which she responded to and off we flew, luckily with no delay to other travellers.

Need to look into either getting a relay switched from the ignition live feed to rear aux power socket or just powering it from that wiring - that would be my preference.

What are thoughts on powering it from just ignition switched power . . .

I reckon that's the answer - wire it so it is only on when the ignition is on ! Why it wasn't wired this way from the start goodness only knows.
