I've mine set at about 450mm to the top of the ball leaving the plate on but upside down

My lad came round tonight after work and did the business - he's got a much better tool kit than me.

I left the drop plate on as is (see earlier photo) and simply swapped the bolts and tow ball into the 400 mm position. MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

I think your drop plate is the right way up. The bolts for the side bars are still accessible, and if you drop the plate to the lower position they would remain so. MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

Popped into the main dealer today - after 45 minutes of faffing, they fitted it IN THE WRONG PLACE

I don't think I could have been clearer - 400mm height, remove the plate and fit in lower holes. They fitted it in top ones

I can lower it myself - I'm sure they would have done it if pressed but I'd lost will to live

Unbelievable - bit like my stealership telling me that they'd fitted mine to the same height as a detachable.

Worries me that the same Tech could have checked your brakes and give them a clean bill of health

I let them fit the OEM tow bar, I don't let them service it

I thought I would post a picture of how my tow hitch turned out. The drop plate is the correct way up and is in its highest position, therefore providing some protection against the hitch head colliding with the car.
The caravan now rides very slightly nose down - just like it did with the detachable.
