2010 D4 Sudden loss of power on pulling away |
|
it of a frightening situation yesterday, pulled out of a lane onto a main road and went to accelerate and the car just went nowhere then after a couple of seconds picked up and went OK, fortunately the driver approaching behind was on the ball.
Symptoms seem to be like a D3 EGR fault but I've no errors on the dash and a fault read shows nothing related to power loss or EGR, just a couple of audio system, abs voltage algorithm error, parking sensor module communication and transmission communication, As I recall all these seem to have been there since we bought it last November
The car had run fine earlier in the day on a 6 mile run and did a 120 mile run on Friday
Not sure if it's connected but sometimes it does feel significantly more responsive than others
Any ideas? thanks Mark

It does seem to happen sometimes. Generally from a standstill and when you want to accelerate away quickly. It's as if the car thinks "You want to do what? Um...ok then" before doing it. You're right, it can be a bit disconcerting. The delay is probably only a second or so, but when you've judged the gap and want to accelerate into it, a second can be a long time.
If the above is what you mean, do a search on the site, I'm pretty sure there's one or two informative threads on this.
