They are quite underated. They have their problems like any other car but for the money they are great. I prefer the older one as the suspension and handling is a little better, the TF is a little too hard for my liking but never the less still a good car. Don,t like the headlights on the TF. Definitely under-rated and great VFM. A similar MX-5 was about double the price. This has got good history and service record of all those 'important' things. Low mileage,27k, great condition in and out and a late '05 model.
I prefer the TF over the F for the reasons you don't
