I have 2006 V8 with 124 000 Klm. Just getting to end of MAJOR service with the replacement of Coolant. As I lifted Top Bleed Vave to release and check, the valve came off in my hand leaving the two stub pipes in their respective rubber hoses. On inspection, the plastic body of the valve was all crumbling but the pipes within the rubber seemed OK ( material wise). I cannot believe I have the only valve of a mass production part that is so very badly sub-standard and urge all you guys to check this valve. Don't know if the oily rag guys D3s have similar valve but would suspect so, in which case, this could be a real cause of early engine failure if it went during high speed motorway run.
I am still suffering tummy wobbles as I am due to go into Bots and Caprivi in two months time.........if I hadn't found this !!!
The local stealer?" No stock and havn't heard of any problems". Due to the severaty of the plastic condition I just do not believe this.
To all guys - just remove top engine cover (four screws), look at front, centre, next to thermostat, two 10mm bore rubber hoses clamped together with this valve - chrome hex top to it. Inspect the condition of the valve body, it should be quite strong so give it a good check. I am trying to get alternative part made of steel, if successful will let you know.

VERY LATE UPDATE :- My neighbor directly across road bought used D3 V8. I told him to check this connector.............following Saturday, as he drove out of his driveway, the connector broke ! He has now corrected the situation without cost. ( he was about to go onto Highway when he saw water in his drive). This really is a disaster waiting to happen. Life always good with a Landy

Hi
Just been doing some maintenance on my V8 and thought I would replace this part as it appears pretty flimsy.
I suspect it has worked loose recently but that’s another story!
Do you have any links or pictures of the brass part you used please?
Can’t seem to find any.......
Thanks in anticipation

Hi AL_P , Unfortunately not. I bought from a Hydraulics supply company - the general dealer who supplies all the fittings, pipes, pumps etc for oil hydraulic systems, main business being replacement hoses made to samples. He checked sizes and came up with a fitting that would do the job. It has no "bleeder" within it as the plastic failure had but when needing that you can always loosen one pipe - works for me.
