EMC interference with quad band Wouxon radio install... |
|
Bit of a strange one and just wondered had anyone else come across the same issue and potentially solved it.
I've run CB's in my various Sports and Disco's for years and never had a problem, a friend then bought a quad band Wouxon radio for his 2011 sport and started having serious interference issues. At the time I put in down to all the other 'stuff' he's done over the years, things he's added etc.
However, recently having done my amateur license I bought one and on Saturday we fitted it to my 65 plate D4 and low and behold the same issue.
So... I've done a few EMC interference issue studies in the past so have started doing the basics.
Believe I've narrowed it down to air borne noise as the issue remains when I switched power source from an internal 12v feed to my 12v power pack.
Next step will be going through pulling fuses but thought I'd see whether anyone had similar issues, maybe managed to solve or at least narrow down the issue.
The issue as best as I can explain is apparently only at engine on and only sometimes at idle, the pitch or frequency doesn't change with RPM and doesn't cut in or cut out with a change in RPM either.
Any ideas welcomed.
Thanks

Hi,
You are not alone with that issue. The noise seems to come from the engine-ecu. I spoke to a fellow Disco owner who does a lot of work on automotive electronic systems and he suggested moving the arial further forward as mine is currently mounted on the rear end of the left roof rail. I have not had the time to verify this yet though.
