Hf radio antenna
Have installed my icom 706mk2 in discovery, been using the Pro-am mono band whips which work ok with the triple mag mount on roof. These antennas are 8ft in length and can only be used when static. Now looking at one of the shorter auto tune types and wonder if anyone is using any particular type? Little tar heel, screwdriver etc, I also have sgc 230 auto coupler which is also ok static with long wire. Any other radio hams solved the antenna question? Many thanks jim

I use the tarhel on the defender with a mountain radio auto tune unit and it is pertty good.
It is easy to make up a bracked to mount it on the D3/4 that bolts to the roof rails but it might be an idea to get a swivel mount if it is going up on the roof for easy car park access.
The other alternative would be to fix to the rear ladder if you have one, or where the ladder mounts at the bottom if you dont, to the numberplate light.

Thanks for information, sgc230 works well but needs to be within few inches of base of antenna. Will have look at rear door area you mention to make bracket. Thanks again GM0WUX
