Should I be concerned about no wheels for 3 days

Any thoughts. My car is to have the wheels refurbished by my dealer under warranty as there is some pitting. Will use a local refurbisher and have been advised car will be needed for 3 days during which time it will be left jacked up without wheels - presumably at the Land Rover dealership. Refurbisher has a 48 hour turn round time.

Just not comfortable about this and wonder if I should wait until a spare set of wheels are available.

Am I being overly concerned. It is just that I don't want this to trigger suspension problems at a later date. Would you be happy to do this or insist on spare set of wheels whilst the job is being done.

Spare set of wheels would be the way to go, perhaps one of the forum members local to you could be persuaded to give a short loan Whistle

It will certainly not cause any problems. 10 minutes or 10 days with fully extended suspension shouldn`t make any difference. Other than you missing the car!

If you want, you can borrow my off-road wheels? they are 17" with Cooper STT's. I'll even use my air jack and help you fit them if you want?

JKO, I agree with some others, your car is what ? under 2 yrs old, What the hell are they doing refurbishing them, the pitted (poorly manufactured / protected) wheels should be replaced. More cheapskate dealers Evil or Very Mad

Gareth - Thanks for the offer. Thats very kind of you.

I think before I agree to the refurb I will have another go at the dealers and see if I can press for new wheels instead what is currently on offer. Will keep you posted.

If within warranty, then I would be after a brand new set of wheels - no question.

And if it has to be a refurb, a courtesy vehicle whilst out of action.

A friend with a Mondeo ST had his wheels refurbed a little while ago. His were the painted and diamond cut ones, ie. polished rim and spoke edges, with the face of the spoke painted silver. They came back completely powder-coated dull silver and with the centre-caps left as they were (so now mismatching). He got them replaced by brand new ones within a week.

Having said that, properly refurbed wheels are nearly as good as new but I agree, if they accept it is a warranty issue you should get new ones.
