My favourite green lanes, and why
1. Strata Florida - Wales- A nice long drive, with a bit of everything. Excellent river crossings, a bit of mud and water, some rocks, and great remote setting. Non damaging, D3 friendly, except after rain when the rivers can rise very quickly.
2. Stannage Edge - Peaks- A very difficult lane, superb rock crawling test. Steep and narrow, not for the inexperienced or faint hearted. Easier to come down, but very satisfying to get up. Great view from the top. Not for standard D3, you will need underbody protection for this one. Slippery in the wet.
3. The Gap Road - Sadly closed now. (Although this is disputed) Had everything, including one of the best views in Wales. D3 friendly.
