Williams Manchester - First impressions... |
|
So after 15 yrs using Guy Salmon in Stockport for all my servicing, and most of my Land Rover purchases, I decided to get my D4 serviced at Williams in Manchester for a change.
The reasons for my change were increasing frustration, with them regularly failing to promptly return calls, increasing costs, most of the staff I got to know and trust have left, the ones that remain are uncontactable, the replacements are not on my wavelength when it comes to my enthusiasm for the brand. In short, they have spent a fortune on a fantastic new premises, combining the Jaguar and Land Rover operation under one roof, but dropped the baton on the way with regard to customer service.
The other reason I tried them out was that my new office is in central Manchester, so it was convenient for me.
My first impression of Williams was good, with a willingness to get my business by giving me a healthy discount off my 4th year service - £585 all in. All other quotes were north of £650. They also phoned me back within 5 minutes of initial contact. Upon arrival, I did find it difficult to park, but not impossible. It's obviously a busy dealership with limited space. I was promptly attended to, a comprehensive list of works was gone through. They gave me a complimentary taxi ride to my office in town centre.
Car was ready by 4 pm, and once I got to the dealership there was a short wait for the service advisor to finish with another customer. I was quickly relieved of the agreed amount, and advised that I will soon need front bushes replacing, as they are showing signs of wear. The car was cleaned to a reasonable standard, and a tin of sweets left for me.
I think Williams did a good job, and reminded me of how Guy Salmon used to be.

If I'd known I was going to be so thirsty this morning I'd have drunk more beer last night.

I used them foe a couple of years and were always helpful and were good at sticking to what they agreed, which i didn't find at the other dealership in the black pudding area....
I forgot about the boiled sweets... I like the waiting area.... Or should i say my lad did... more cans of pop and biscuits than he was allowed at home If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

I recently used them (Williams) for the first time for some warranty work instead of G/S
I don’t like the new G/S centre in Stockport, it’s too clinical.

Always used them since 2005 and could not fault them, both sales, after care and service
Pick up and drop off from Cheadle which was great for me
Stopped using them due to cost on what is now a 6 year old D4 - but only in the past 8 months or so
If I was in the market for a new car, wouldn't hesitate to go there again
