I know he hadn't been well and his son Stephen was doing other things for a while, so perhaps that's what's swayed the sale.

Lot of the family business are being sold to big boys now - Armstrong Massey York have gone to Hunters and I heard Ripon are now part of Lloyds

Until last October all my Land Rover Discovery's were serviced there and all but one purchased from them, sad to see the business sold.

In 19 years I have never had a problem with any of the service staff, they were all friendly and helpful. The dealer I bought my last LR from retired a year after I bought it and since then all the sales staff have changed - and some of them only seem to last 3 months.

I hoped that they might keep the name, as Gordon Lamb's good name was why Vertu Motors plc bought them (according to an article I read), apparently they also own Bristol Street Motors.

If I decided to purchase another LR, I would have gone back to Gordon Lamb, not sure about Vertu or BSM depending on which name they decide to use.

I bought swmbo an approved used FL1 from Gordon Lamb in 2010 via the net but it turned out to be a lemon

I expected a problem resolving based on my experience of other LR dealers but it was collected from Yorkshire and refund given without any fuss

From that experience they seemed to be one of the good ones

That's where I got my D4 from, travelled from the Wirral for it. TBH I was pretty impressed with the staff and experience pre and post-sale. Couldn't comment on servicing though.

The free 'Gordon the Lamb' teddy I got is still the dog's most loved toy and has survived dozens of machine washes Laughing

Got two of them in a wardrobe, the first one (from 1999) is about 4 times the size of the ones they gave out after 2000 though! Last LR I bought from them they gave me a golf umbrella.

I bought multiple cars from them and had all my LRs serviced there for last 10 years. Hope the new owners seek to look after the longstanding customers, I know first thing I'd be doing is looking at service and sales history to identify the people I need to introduce the new company too and look after!

Looks like the new owner is Farnells as they have just tried to sell me a D4 and sent me a link to a car that is for sale in Leeds
Salesmans response was as we are now part of a large group I can source cars from our group stock

Hope this helps
Regards
Shaun

Farnell used to be part of coop but sold to Bristol Street Motor during their money problems so that would make sense

Bought my present D3 from them, but only used the service facilities once for warranty work, I didn't like the female(bitch) rockweiller behind the service counter.
