I was sure there was only one size of inner track rod, it was the outer track rod ends that were different from MY09 onwards?

Definitely no part number change. Should be QFK500010 or something like that. Should be M16 one end and M20 the other.

What or where is not fitting exactly? Trying to attach the inner track rod to the end of the steering rack?

Sounds like you have got two off side D3s to me, not a pair of D4s. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Just realised you have an auto and mine is a manual but do not think this makes a difference
If memory serves me right the originals were TRW and the part number was engraved on the rod, maybe check your old one for the number There is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance

Also just realised you may not have the same car as I was looking at Willys
they are different from 2009 from VIN 9A496359 to earlier cars
if yours is after the vin mentioned you need LR 010667 and 010668
Check out the advancedfactors website they have all the types, may help you decide which ones you should have There is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance

This is the last I will post honest
After a bit of checking it appears that the only difference is the ball end
The steering rack side are all the same for any year but the nearside and offside are different threads
One is 16mm and one is 20mm
So in summary the one you tried to fit is more likely from the other side.
If both the ones you have are the same thread you have either two drivers side ones or two passenger side ones
Got there eventually There is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance
