ZF Lifeguard 6 is the proper oil. Its very expensive.
I am just worried that a garage who was not enlightened to the requirements of the ZF 6 speed box, and just presumed its a normal auto and put normal ATF in it.

hi
not a landrover garage.
they done filter and change oil change first and as no change decided it was tc as looks like a common problem.

It might help if you fill out your vehicle profile and tell us something about its history, eg mileage, and has it worked hard towing etc.

If its a full LR service history then you can be sure it won;t have had an oil change since new. 144k is an awful lot to ask of the oil.
Have they fitted a new genuine TC or a recon?
Lots of possibilities I'm afraid. Worst case scenario is the gearbox is worn out too.
