My parents live 200yds down a private road (they share the road with a neighbour) in rural Aberdeenshire. Despite the sign "Private - No through road", people still drive down and then seem Censored off that it is a) private and b) a dead end.

My old man has been known to let out thirty head of cattle onto the road behind an errant motorist and leave them boxed in at the dead end by a bunch of hairy beasts!

We have some woodland, we've often found people wandering around and I've returned them to the public footpath. Some have said 'can't we walk here then'. I politely ask if they'd mind me coming to sit in their garden for the afternoon without asking...

But more annoying is when they bring baskets and pick stuff, some people think because they are foraging it's legal to go where you like. Neutral We're getting less of that now I've put up signs warning people our dogs are loose. Sheep (Behind a big padlocked gate!)

So I am normal, I think ....many years ago we moved into a large house facing on to a Main Street with drive but no gates, new to the village I watched cuppa in hand at movement at the bottom of the garden. A fairly old girl with Labrador walking around periphery of the garden.
"Do you know this is my garden?"
"Oh I was walking the dog and he came in!"
"You must have seen it was a private garden."
"There's no need to be rude."

I bet this chimes with others here so as I'm on a roll and OK maybe a need for another thread here but does anyone else get this too.......makes me see red the mindless morons who park across the drive " I'll only be a minute I off to bakers....shop etc. if I had a pound for everyone who says that. I used to be polite now they just get ....sod off to said old ladies or Censored off to airy Censored builders getting their bacon roll. One even followed me in the the house and ran so fast when two big dogs confronted him and smiled. Of course everyone else has a devine right, jaw dropping ignorance

Got that off my chest

What a weekend! Our delightful neighbors have an unlicensed campsite that runs under the 28 day rules and Sunday morning I find 2 of the campers strolling around our fields trying to talk to the ponies and got most agitated that I made them go whence they came - the neighbors denied they could be their customers because they told them all where the boundaries were Evil or Very Mad

Monday morning at 6am as we are leaving at 6am for a horse show I find a Citroen Picasso has crashed on a straight road and broken our fence, luckily I had time to photograph the scene as it was gone by 2pm and nothing reported to me or the police Censored

Then I find my bins are full yet again with campers rubbish as the campsite does not let them leave rubbish so they chuck it in the hedge or my bins if it's a bank holiday (bin collection is a Monday) neighbor doesn't want to know. Luckily I have a camera trap and videoed the Censored but can't see the number plate of his Audi. Reported it for fly tipping more hassle Censored Censored Censored Anyone any ideas how I can get the site owners to accept responsibility?

Checked with SWMBO (who's an EHO) for you - there are provisions under the Environmental Protection Act as regards a duty of care to dispose of any waste, so they have to provide disposal of their customers' waste and the council should be able to act - if any of it is being dumped elsewhere that might hasten the matter. Thumbs Up

So if I've reported this as fly tipping should the council follow it up?

It does "beggar belief".

Some people just can't seem to grasp the fact that livestock, fields, land and rivers are actually someone else's property.

I own a stretch of river, which I lease to a fishing syndicate. Despite obvious notices to the contrary, people leave the footpath and swim, mess about in inflatables, picnic and fish (poaching) on a regular basis.

When you try and explain that it's private property and they're ruining the fishing, they often seem amazed and as you say agitated. Evil or Very Mad

The last lot I encountered was a family, the Dad was pretty bolshy. I asked them if they had a garden, to which the wife replied in some detail. So I told her that it sounded lovely and I'd be dropping in with my family for a picnic next weekend. As far as I'm concerned, there's no difference!

I don't want to be a spoilsport, but setting up camp with chairs, inflatables, a folding table etc. is taking the p***.

I blame the "Right to Roam", I'm sure a lot of these idiots just assume that the countryside is now the equivalent of a municipal park and they can do as they please.

Don't get me started on rubbish.

I feel better now after that rant. Laughing

Agree people are unbelievable Thumbs Up

My last house had the widest drive on street and people were always turning round in it - even delivery vans and builders merchants wagons - someone even damaged the pillar Rolling Eyes

I've had people park in it and deliver to neighbours - one guy sat in it on mobile and when I asked what he was doing said "can't you see I'm on the phone" Evil or Very Mad

Front garden was used as rubbish bin by people at bus stop too and side of house was toilet when they came back on bus from night out Banging Head

It's getting worse I'm sorry to say Big Cry

Not specifically as fly tipping if it's put in your bin, but if you report the fact that the campsite don't let their guests leave their rubbish, then yes, they should follow it up. Thumbs Up
