Dipstick
Ok. So I now have a nice MY12 Santorini Black HSE sat on the road, and while checking over the user handbook thought I would check out where all the fluids go.
Where is the dipstick or do they not have one any more?

Park the car with the engine off for more than 30 minutes.
Dint put your foot on the brake pedal and turn the ignition on.
Pre the OK button on the steering wheel and bring up the menu.
Search for maintenance and then oil level.

If it makes you feel any better the D3 dipstick is not great. Very hard to check because the oil is smeared up the stick.

Thanks again.
Clearly a lot has happened in 5 years...
Seems almost primitive now to have a dipstick.

I find the D4 electronic dipstick easy to use. Just don't try and rush it after the engine has been running.
I would like a dipstick as well, but if I did have one, I would use it very infrequently and just use the dash check, only reverting to the manual dipstick if I thought there was an issue.

Think there should be a traditional dipstick as well as the electronic version. Other manufacturers can manage it - surely the cost wouldn't be prohibitive on a £40,000 + motor?

Best thing about a proper dipstick is its always right (it might be vague but its right), the dash ones WILL go wrong at some point.
I had one at work only yesterday, dash showing oil overfull, jack cab oil 6mm under max on stick, back in cab its shows overfull, drain off 2 litres dash shows overfull, dipstick now at halfway, drain down to minimum, guess what? dash shows oil overfull, so thats a truck vor for a lack of a dipstick.
