D4 Commercial load area protection |
|
New to the Discovery scene having collected my MY16 Commercial a week ago!
I have been searching about for a decent load area protector - I was hoping to find a nice high-sided moulded rubber/plastic job that would protect the door and rear arch plastics but no luck so far. I have a fabric 7 seat cover for the normal Disco but it obviously doesn't fit very well as its designed to fix to the backs of the front seats rather than the dog grille in the Comms. And I want something thicker/more protective anyway.
The most likely candidates looked to be bootbuddy but I received the following response when I enquired: "Unfortunately we do not make any products for commercial vehicles, even if they are based on passenger vehicles. This is mainly due to the fact that the materials that we use are too small to be able to effectively cover the back of this type of vehicle".
Has anyone found something that would do the job, before I start measuring up to make a high-sided ply or mdf job?
Cheers,
Rich MY16 Commercial

Depends on how much protection you want, but I'd have said a Bootbuddy would do the job. Mine comes up almost to the windows at the side and is about 3" short of the top of the row 2 seatbacks. The material itself is sturdy and self-supporting.

To be honest if your not going to be spilling a lot of liquids one of the best load area protectors is a piece of carpet. I've done it in two of my cars(one with a similar load space to a disco), and laid it in and cut in certain sections so it goes up the sides of the boot and door areas to about 16" high. It's taken loads of abuse from tonnes of wood, metalwork, rubbish for the tip, even a 200kg complete rear axle with leaking fluids and it only cost me £5 and 40ish minutes cutting properly FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner
Test piloted a new D4 XS SDV6.. Gone and being forgotten i hope!!
