Disco 4 - Jacking Up Procedure
Good day to all.
My missus often drives my Landy when I am away on long trips. I dread she gets a puncture and someone offers to help her change the tyre and jacks into the bottom of the vehicle, into the air suspension etc.
I know 2 experienced off roader type guys with mechanical backgrounds that have done thousands of £ worth of damage to their Discos.
What are the best ways to avoid this happening to us?
I have been told to take the car to a tyre fitment type place, get it lifted and go under the vehicle with some white or yellow enamel paint and clearly mark the 4 jacking points. Take photos and store on cell phone under specific folder, print photos and place in cubby box.
What else would you say we should do. Replace the std jack with a bottle jack? What size jack to get?
A Takla air suspension lift bag when going to the bush?
Guys, any other points and tips? Does any one have any docs on the subject.
Thank you.

Paints a good idea, might still be difficult to see in the dark. Or to be absolutely safe, buy a compressor guard, then you can even jack up on it then if you needed to.
Get a Disco1 2 stage bottle Jack and position it under the Airbag on front or rear, it will lift to change a wheel as its a 2T Jack, no risk to compressor Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Show her how its done, let her have a few goes herself whilst supervised, If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

Boet, I just got myself a Titan bottle jack for R320, 5t capacity and extends to around 435mm, which should be more than enough. If not, I'll carry a block of wood as a base.
