I had Chris from Dieseltune breathe on my computer in May and the increases in power are startling, much more of an increase than i was able to get in my previous Td5
When i was in Cairns a couple of weeks ago i went to the LR dealer to get a wheel alignment done, he sent me to the Beaurepaires shop around the corner where they do all the dealers cars.
When i picked the car up later the mechanic wanted to know what had been done to it.
He reckoned it went "like a dog shot in the bum" and said it had no turbo lag.
The worst fuel economy i recorded on my cape york trip, full loaded and towing our small van, a lot of times in low range, thru thick sand was about 14.5 mpg.
All in all im very impressed with the rechip

Hmmm - have thought about doing this to our vehicle too... sounded good - by only 14.5 mpg doesn't seem very good I'm guessing you meant 14.5l/100km?
cheers,

I think they are around here somewhere.
How much did they charge you for the D3 and is it hidden from the dealer like the others? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Simon
14.5 mpg is pretty good when you consider when you take into account
the Disco was fully loaded with a generator, 80 litre frige, chain saw, recovery gear etc
plus the van weighed a tonne unloaded and it was loaded with another 300 0r 400 kgs of gear
and we were in low range pulling through thick sand and very slow going.
i think the cost was about $1500

Actually - yes - converts to 19.5l/100km - and under those circumstances - not bad at all...
I often get only 16.5l/100km towing our 2.5 tonne boat on the highway, so your returns were not bad at all!
cheers,

Once my Disco (eventually) arrives and I've run it in a bit, I'm keen to pursue the diesel tune-up approach. The UK site seems to recommend either Torque Tune or Tubo Chip. Where does Dieseltune fit into the equation? What options are available in Australia (specifically South Australia)?
What are the experiences of Aust. Disco owners who have 'chipped'?
Cheers,
Martin

Chris Tyler was one of the original owners of a tuning company in UK
I think you mentioned their name in your post
He then started up Dieseltune in Australia

Torq-Tune and Dieseltune are 'similar' but not commercially related

Has anyone heard from Chris lately.
When i met him he told me about what had happened to his UK operation
and how hed been "silenced" on the forum.
Simon
The Mickey Thompson tyres are a good compromise
Ive done 11000km and they still look good.
they have a lot of small chips but nothing serious
2000ks was on the dirt going to cape york where i was losked up 50 or more times
trying to stop hitting potholes and creek crossings when you start going too fast.
I think that has caused the chips
