Disco 4 Spare Wheel Pressure Sensor |
|
Had a spare tyre pressure warning for a couple of months - comes up with a warning which normally disappears , finally got around to inflating it to find it was about 30psi (not that low). Inflated to about 40psi (to be sure) - warning still comes up and then goes away. Anyone else had a similar thing?

Yeah.
I believe the system expects the spare's pressure to be higher than those on the road. I inflated mine to about 50 psi and the warning went away.

I wonder if the spare sensor is expecting to see max load rear (46psi) pressure so its available for any wheel with any load.

Possibly.. I also wondered if the battery in the sender was on it's way out but would expect a different warning if any

My spare is inflated to the same pressure as the other tyres and I don't get a warning Cheers Ian

I have suddenly started to get the same warning about my spare wheel tyre.
I was wondering if it could be due to the cold weather setting in ? as when I check all my tyres they all show as slightly underinflated.

In the end I pumped mine up well beyond what is recommended and then deflated to the correct pressure, I have not had the warning since. I wonder if it wasn't sealed properly. I've had a similar thing with defender wheels before.

I am sure you all know of course that there is a delay of up to 8 mins before the tyre pressure unit registers the message to the monitor.Well it did with mine

^^ I found that when pumping them up leave the ign on with the tyre pressures showing, pump up to what it should be but put a few extra psi in, depending if you are doing them all go around each one, by the time you are done with all 4 the readings will start to change, if only doing the one, follow the same principle but put the gauge down walk around the car 20 times, do 20 press ups and then have a ciggy, the the reading will change.
For gods sake don't sit in the car and wait watching the to see if it will change...... IT WONT all the time you are watching. 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

I started getting a warning immediately after I inflated my tyres to high load pressure. So I assume the warning must be actuated by a comparison to the other tyres, either that or it was a coincidence. I then set the pressures back to normal but the warning still came up. When I checked the spare it was fairly low, around 32 I seem to remember. Inflated to over 40 and the error went away.
Incidentally I left the warning to see if my dealer pointed it out to me ( or better, fixed it) when it went in for them to put right something they had previously done on the car. They didn't even mention it. That was the last straw for me. Off to another dealer from now on. Gary

Ooooh! Never thought of there being a sender on the spare! Better have a look when the better weather sets in.
