Did the EPB used to automatically activate when switching the ignition off ?.... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I thought I was going mad...I always apply it manually, but forgot this morning and half expected it to automatically apply........the wife's Golf has a 2-stage system,hill-hold and fully automatic when you cut the ignition......I've been driving the Discovery so infrequently recently I couldn't remember if it did or not.... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

My wife also has a Golf (about 10 months old), but that still has a proper handbrake. It's great and I don't have to worry about it not working Andy

I hate EPB's and always have done.....it's an unnecessary addition to the list of "things to go wrong" in my book.....give me an old fashioned handbrake every time.....the one I had in my Audi A6 was so bad,if it didn't release automatically the first time, you had to put the car in neutral, and start the whole procedure all over again,or attempt a proper old fashioned hill-start....completely pointless and very annoying "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Thank you,I must have had a brief moment of flashback to my manual D3,and clearly too much time in the wife's Golf has advanced my senility "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
