I had the car mot yesterday and had the front suspension arms replaced, when driving home the disco cut out and would not restart AA attended jump started the car. He told me that the alternator was not charging properly the car started this morning ok in a temp of -4Deg. ordered a laser-battery and alternator tester. to check charging system

Check your bonnet switch as that may not be registering the bonnet being closed. You can loop the connector out with a paper clip as a check.

If you've got a meter check the out put from the alternator, I believe it should be over 14v at the temperatures we've got at the moment. If the alternator is faulty it may kill your battery so putting a new battery on before confirming the alternator is okay may be even more expensive. Thumbs Up

Instead of ordering testing equipment you would be better ordering an alternator.

Easy way of testing it it by simply switching as much on as you can while started and check the battery output with a simple DMM, output should be high 13 into 14 volts.
