New Disco 5 impact on D4 prices ?

Hi all just window shopping on a dark and wet winters afternoon and I wonder if anyone has a crystal ball and would like to speculate on what will happen to D4 prices and will this then trickle down to the D3 models ?
cheers

Going by Land Rover's recent form in product launches (particularly with the FL2 to DS launch recently), expect the less expensive versions of the old car to disappear first (they've done that for the D4 already), followed by steep cost increases with the new car. Combine these steep cost increases with a move away from many of the design features that attracted people to the old car in the first place and expect the used prices of D4's to remain firm for at least the first 12 months. It certainly happened with the FL2.

As for the D3, that's probably harder to say as it sits in a different bit of the market. Expect its value to fall only after the value of D4's have declined to match current D3 prices.
 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

Early D3 are as cheap as they ever will be for the foreseeable. Late D3 will take a fair drop

D4 prices I expect will take a hit, but not as big as late D3's will suffer.

As was seen with D2 to D3... D3 to D4 prices didn't fall of a cliff .....I anticipate that there will still be strong demand for late D4's for a while after the D5 appears Smile

The D4 prices should stay strong if their is demand for an old school style LR.

There will always be a demand for a clean LR that works amongst the rural community, my guess they will bottom out at 10 years old at £5k-£6k and no lower. Any good clean Disco2, Defender still goes for that sort of money as still used/useful on the farm, shooting, fishing, pulling horse boxes etc

I have just bought a BMW M3 Cabrio (mid life crisis car) it is one of the last of the V8's made with v high spec it originally cost £72K, I picked it up for less than £35k 18 months old with 20k on the clock from BMW main dealer. This drop was caused by the new M4 (straight 6 twin turn which i didn't want). I doubt if LR's will see anything like that.

Hoping the D4 Commercial will hold its value, as there won't be a D5 Commercial, so its the end of an era for these.

Guy at work just sold his old D2 for 950 quid with mot.
Im sure most D2 will rot away just like the D1 has.
D3 bit of a game changer in that area.

A quick look at D2 prices on the bay and trader and overall the prices are no higher than they were 16 months ago when I sold mine. And as then I think anything over £5-6,000 is speculative, indeed if you search on sold Discoverys £5-10000 there are only 3 D2s and the dearest was £5,500.

Why no D5 commercial? Is that official?

So I'm told, which is why I recently got a new one. Last order date for a D4 Comm. is 31st March.

The D5 is going to elevate the Discovery to another league and I don't think LR want it de valued by a Commercial model. Dealer told me that the Defender line up will cater for a Discovery Commercial replacement.

No D5 Commercial Expected

Big Cry Big Cry

I cancelled my new D4 Commercial due 1st March because the 3 year old one I have now is mint (see avatar in understanding mint).

Reason for cancelling in the first place: Ordered for 1st March 2015 and it turned up 1st Nov 2014 Shocked

Reason given: Downturn in Chinese markets has brought production dates forward.

I thought keep this for another year (with LR warranty) and see how the D5 Commercial looks. Looks like keeping it for longer Big Cry

I can see clean D4 commercials going up in value: not down Question
