looking at buying my first disco3
hi all new to the site and landrovers in general
im looking at buying a disco3 in the next couple of months
i've always liked the 3's but saw one with the discovery 4 hse facelift body kit on (i think that's what its called) and fell in love, i will be buying a d3 and then upgrading later in the year
i definitely want a black d3 and black leather interior
will have around 10-11k budget but could spend more for the right car
a few questions i have tho are
is around 120,000 miles good mileage to be looking at
what are the best models to get? hse have the best spec and extras but have leaking issues from the sunroofs so are se models with extras a better option (dvd player and screens or cool box etc would be nice but most likely hardly ever get used)
what are the things to look for when buying, im aware of the issues with the suspension and to make sure all service history is good and shows the car is well looked after and has had all necessary work done
i would like a satnav as i think they look better with the screen there, in non satnav models is there still a screen there or just a blanking plate
if i stick the full body kit on and some bigger wheels who are the best insurers? who do you use for your modded discos
where are the best places in the midlands to off road? im in chesterfield and will definitely want to test it out off road, my only other 4x4 has been a suzuki x90 and it was the most fun thing ive ever had in the snow and off road so looking to see if this is better
thanks all and hi

Being an old fart myself I would go for a std high spec car and keep the extra money for any repairs that will needed.
D3 pretending to be D4 is fooling no one and I always think of boy racer cars, look nice when first done but a few years down the line look sad and tired, quality is the key word.
Spend some time searching on here all the info and more is here, if you cant find what you want google it and you will still end up here
Ps big wheels with low profile tyres wont cut it off road, of course of you mean big wheels with big tyres thats a different matter.

Lol it's not too boy racer ish just beefed up a bit
I hear they are a bit pricey on upkeep that's why I only want to spend 10-11k on buying one, hopefully I can get something in good nick at that price range, I've looked at the for sale page as forums are the best place to buy from with most cars
This is the style I liked

definitely better buying on history backed up with receipts rather than miles, also at 120k most of the common fails might have already been addressed, I have recently purchased a black HSE with black leather with excellent history and it was in your budget with change, always cheaper available but almost certainly force economy, it took me 4 months of lurking around the forum before I bought one and well pleased with it.
Ps don't be put of by some horror stories once you drive them they are well worth the trouble.

It is a bit off putting when you first look on here at the issues list lol
When you all say good service history, I know to look at the set using intervals etc but is it better to have one with a lot of work been done on it (eg new suspension pumps, gearbox etc) or one that has never needed new pumps gear box etc
There are a couple of hse on auto trader at the mo for around 10k I might look this week if I get time
Does the satnav screen display wheel heights etc like on the range rover sport?
