reading on here about scratches and road rash and suchlike, I wondered if anyone has used 3M's paint defender kit?
Essentially, it's a spray-can version of the customised plastic films used for pain protection - clean car, spray on lightly, leaving you with a plastic film covering that can then be washed, waxed, etc. Peels off after a year (or earlier) by picking at it with your fingernail.
Might be ok for bonnet/wheelarches, maybe bramble rash?
anyone got experience of using it?

First of all full disclosure, I run a paint protection film business.
Now to your question, I would use a professionally installed film (I would say that wouldn't I  ) instead of the spray on stuff 3M offer, the reasons are:-
1. It's nowhere near as hard wearing as film
2. Finish is only as good as your spraying technique
3. Only lasts a limited amount of time.
4. If it was any good I would be offering it as a cut price option, I don't.
