MY15 D4 oil from new.
Anybody know what LR put in the D4 from new oil-wise?
I need to top mine up and not sure whether to buy A1, A5 or something else.
Also considering a full oil change, shouldn't need it and am on the maintenance pack but even so for my piece of mind the car has done 9k miles now so reckoning an oil change may be a good idea.MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Usually it's Castrol Edge Professional. 5W-30. I seem to recall it's only available from Land Rover Dealers.
According to the Owners Manual. The recommended oil is:
SAE 5W-30 meeting specification WSS-M2C934-B. If unavailable, 5W-30 meeting specification ACEA C2 may be used.

There are quite a few oils on the market that meet the spec requirements. I think the last 5 litre bottle I bought was around £35.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

get the supply dealer to top it up and ask then.....our new one used 2 litres in the first 10k miles...apparently the block soaks it up according to some
That's a new one , the block soaks it up? Sounds like stealer bull s...t , I have never owned a car of any make that has used oil between services. The D 4 I have, towed a 1800 kg caravan to Spain in September ,60 mph almost all the way 900 miles , and only 300 miles on the clock at the start of the journey. Many more miles now, used no oil.
