Hi all.
I'm a MASSIVE Land Rover & Range Rover fan and have had 2 Evoque coupes to date (currently with a 14 plate dynamic coupe in black) and I am ready to change my car. I am thinking of another Evoque but not sure if it will give me the new car feeling after the last two ( same car not much difference!)
I was considering a Discovery but not sure if I should throw myself into a model that is running out of production in 2016 and therefore I may suffer financially when I come to change again or wait with my current Evoque and change to the new Discovery when it comes out?
Any advice or thoughts welcome

Having owned an Evoque, various Fl2s and Discoverys including a Disco Sport, I much prefer the traditional Land Rover feel that the Discovery gives. I wasn't prepared to wait for the new D5 as I wasn't impressed with my Disco Sport and wanted rid, so snapped up a Disco now.
If I was doing it now I would be tempted to wait, we should see a lot of action regarding the new car over the next few months. The Disco is a comfortable car, perhaps showing its age, but does what is asked of it, the new car though will raise the bar in terms of comfort, spec and price.
If you want a proper looking Land Rover then buy now, the Disco 4 is a dying breed.

Hi.
Makes perfect sense, I have always liked the disco shape (not a fan of the quartz clock!!) I think the new price will be higher than the current model ( which seems high when you look at a base Range Rover sport!)
Do you think I would lose on one of I got the current shape now?

People are still paying very good money for late Freelander 2 models. If you can secure a good deal now I doubt you'll be upset when you change again

It's the big discovery not the freelander. Are people getting good discounts on new 15/16 discoveries? Would be good to know.
Also can you get ford priveldge discounts on them?

Sorry, I was making the point that when old models are replaced, late examples tend to firm up their values in the used market. In other words if you buy a D4 now, it's likely to hold its value when the D5 arrives.
You're a bit late to the party with Ford Privilege vouchers.....

I know they were still accepting them when the ford engines were in the cars. I could get it off the Evoque until the changes were made so presumed the old discoveries would still qualify? Oh well, may still get some off if I haggle hard

Ah, in which case they may still be offering it on the D4. I thought that had stopped but makes sense under the circumstances.

As said above, I reckon late examples of the D4 may well hold well. Seems the D5 will be fairly big step change from the 3 and 4, maybe a bit marmite in terms of looks. Whilst the 5 may well attract some buyers who maybe didn't take to the D4 looks, equally the opposite will be true.
As for Ford discounts - not sure when you bought your last Evoque, but when I bought mine June '13 no discounts were available. So pretty sure they won't be now - which is a shame, my Dad was Ford employee man and boy before retirement 15 years ago. MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff

Well Ive gone with the Nodosh school of thought, that the last of the old model sees a bit of a price lift during the transition period, I've been there myself with the RRS and the D4.
Another school of thought is that if the D5 is not as capable as the D4 i.e. Towing ability ect then the D4 may still fetch good money amoung the hard core.
Either way I've done it now........
