HELP!!! Broken down on A9 at Tore

Heading back back Orkney Islands Glasgow and my Disco 3 lost power and stalled (whilst on dual carriageway doing 60). Managed to pull into the side and get it started again but a mile later the same thing happened to it cut out. I've managed to get into a layby but c get it started again. Any ideas? I'm desperate!

Sorry to hear.

AA probably your best bet, I'm guessing.

Got fuel?
Got a dash of lights or not?
If no lights and nothing when restarting, check battery connections.

Only basic I know.....

Good luck

Would be worth getting yellow taxi service on its way to you anyway, hopefully they won't close the Kessock Bridge.

Waiting for the AA to come out and have changed my ferry booking to 1900 tonight (currently under review due to the weather). Battery connections look fine and I can't find the fuel bleed valve (it's Censored it down out here), however it is running now. AA guy has arrived and thinks water may have got into the electrics.

Good luck, there is a Bunkhouse at Blackrock Caravan Park Evanton individual rooms as well, they (Steven and Jane)would be able to put you in touch with Hamish at Inverness 4x4 very knowledgeable and has test kit etc.

Thanks for all the offers of help and suggestions! All very much appreciated! I got the car started again just as an AA appointed mechanic arrived. Both me and him suspect water had got into the electrics somewhere (not surprising given the road conditions this morning). Managed to get to Wick ok, although missed my ferry. Next one is at 7 tonight although I might manage to get on an earlier one with a different company.

The ecu behind the battery is a weak point for water ingress.

Be worth checking it out, usually the blue middle plug that gets corroded pins.
