ARB's Latest Model Under Bonnet Air Compressor fitted
I had the ARB boys fit their latest air compressor (won a comparison in recent 4wd magazine) in my TDV6 SE. They did a good job and it works a treat.

This is a naff question i know. So you use it for tyre inflation etc? Presumely when engine running. How much was it?

YEP! Alot of people prefer a "mobile" version but I like the idea that it wont be taking up any space in the back which always is jam packed. This is ARB's latest and it seems to ahve recived very good reviews so lets hope it lasts and doenst mind a hot engine bay!
I bought the extended hose kit too - plenty of length to do car and trailer tyres. I have had mine in for a few months now prior to trekking to Alice. ave daily temp was 38'C and worked well and so far no probs. from what I read they (ARB) left the unit in an oven at 160'C for a day with no problems. it is designed to be put in an engine bay and while it's previous function was for air lockers , this version was developed with tyre inflation in mind also. they also ran it continuosly for 55 hrs before it died and can also withstand water immersion. it is also designed to be easily serviceable. top unit

This has got me thinking, is there any reason why we can't use the air from the on board compressor or reservoir?
Can a Female outlet be “tapped†into the system somewhere?Trust me, what could go wrong?

yes there is a reason why it's not a good idea. something to do with the filtering and the closed system. it's in these pages somewhere.

I was wondering this too.
I remember TFC was thinking of trying it, from the drain plug as the pressure would appear to be high enough.
I am sure the pump just keeps the tank at the right pressure.
It could be tested easily enough with the right thread for the plug. if it doesn't work put the plug back in.

Hi BP,
Looks and sound great. I also had this option, but from another outlet, not ARB, and they told me the unit is great, but suggested to go for the MAXAIR II. Slightly dearer, but higher output. After some beach driving the other day, it took me 5 minutes to inflate all four tyres from 20-40PSI.
I also got the kit to mount it in the engine bay, becasue you definitely have a point with regards to the back of the vehicle, being loaded.
