D4 Bluetooth Phone Kit

Hi,
My car has this integral Bluetooth phone kit installed but it doesn't seem to work with my older phone (an old Sony Ericsson Xperia) - my phone simply doesn't see it in the scanning area.
My sons phone does see it so I know it works - well, I assume it works.....
I've had this phone for many years so I feel perhaps an upgrade is in order. I've searched high and low for this illusive LR phone compatibility list but can't actually find it, so I have no idea what phones do work. But I'm now looking at getting a Sony Z3 Compact, does anyone know if this phone might work?
Also, if some modern phones don't work, I can upgrade the software for the Bluetooth kit in the car to make these more modern phones work?
Sorry if this topic has been discussed to death before....
My car is an 59 D4.
Thank you.

When I had this problem with my D3 I needed the software updated on the phone (Nokia), which then worked.

Thanks, I did think about updating the software but figured the Bluetooth would stay the same. I might give it a go but will probably still get a new phone.
So would like to know if the Sony Z3 Compact does work?

I've got a Z3c and it does work.

Remember to set the phone's BT setting to 'Discoverable', and look into the owner's handbook for the PIN code - it is 2121.

I battled for a long time until I RTFM and found the code Thumbs Up

Thanks Naks, I'll try that but I don't see why I need to set my phone to discoverable as my phone is discovering the car, not the other way round - but as I say I will try.

Hi Naks,
No it didn't work. I updated my phones software as much as I could too, and it made no difference, well apart from my making my phone run really slowly now Smile
Another friend tried there's today and it worked, so I guess I feel an upgrade coming on....
Still a great car thought, although my average mpg is dropping around town Smile
