Rear park sensors

Sorry I know this comes up a lot , ive read though past threads but can't get an answer.
My rear sensors give a constant tone when reverse is selected , occasionally it works fine , ive checked them for clicking and they all seem to give a faint clicking noise , presumably this means they all work fine and the wiring isn't Damaged ?
Any ideas where to check next ?
Thanks
Richard

Have you got a tow bar fitted? - if it is not enabled in the CCF it will pick it up when fitted.
Water ingress in the loom, usually on the outside two behind the wheels.
Please fill your profile in so we know what model you've got Thumbs Up

Yes it does have a permanent tow bar fitted , I only just brought the car ,it was already like it and I just presumed its a sensor .how do you check if it's enabled in the CCF ? Scan tool I presume .
I was presuming the wiring loom would be ok as all sensors click and operate when tested , can there still be a problem with the loom?
Thanks

Not all diagnostic tools will read the CCF or are capable of making changes, some may read the faults, an Iid tool will tell you which sensor if any is faulty, read and delete faults. When the tow bar is enabled in the CCF the suspension will not move from normal height setting when a trailer electrics are connected, neither will the rear sensors operate when trailer is connected, I also believe it disables the reversing lights on the car and enables them on the trailer.
Water ingress in the loom can cause faults, these may be intermitant depending on weather conditions, it's a simple job to remove rear bumper and check it.

Ok thanks m3dpo, the towbar looks like it's a few years old maybe even as old as the car , so I wouldn't of thought the previous owner would of put up with the noise all those years , but then I guess you never know !

I had intermittent problem as described. Fault codes suggested more than one sensor at fault. Checked all wiring which was ok. In the end changed all four sensors on the basis they will all fail at roughly same time. Been fine for last two months

If a parking aid system fault has occurred, the parking aid module will relay the occurrence of the fault to the driver in the following ways:
The status LED will flash at a frequency of 2Hz if the system is active and fault is detected in the sensors, sounders, related wiring or the module.
The front sounder will emit an error tone for 3 seconds at a frequency of 1500Hz if a fault is detected with the front sensors or the rear sounder develops a fault.
The rear sounder will emit an error tone for 3 seconds at a frequency of 1500Hz if a fault is detected with the rear sensors, the switch, the LED in the switch or if there is a CAN bus error.

Lol I wish it was 3 seconds! It's constant and annoying.
I'll take the bumper of when I get chance and see if there's anything untoward there, never know the " take it apart and put it back together " might cure it.

If you are going to remove bumper I would invest in 4 x sensors first as most likely the problem
Inexpensive off the Bay
You need ones with STRAIGHT connector not bent connector for rears
