Heated Screen and Rear Window switching on automatically?

I.ve noticed over the last few days that if the outside temperature is 4 degrees or below when I start the engine, the heated screen and rear window are switched on automatically...... I take it this is normal but is it possible to turn this feature off ? - I keep forgetting to do it myself when the windows are already clear.

Sorry for the bump of an old thread, but I'm searching for an answer to this & only managed to get this thread from a search.

Can anyone, point me in the direction of the "Previous Thread" the OP is referring to ?

It can't be turned off afaik....very irritating when the car is warmed up,the screens are completely clear, and you have an invisible LR nanny insisting it knows best.Instead of saving me having to switch them on (which I assume is the point) I now have to make a point of switching them off instead Rolling Eyes ....especially if you do a few short journeys...why can't I decide if they need cleared or not....and while were on a similar subject....I know when it's raining, and also when it's dark Rolling Eyes

Well I would say that the little lights are quite low down, so they're not the most obvious. If they were up on the instrument pack, they would be more noticeable.

Bloody annoying on days that you don't need the rear window de-fogged, but yet nanny has decided that because it's 4 degs or lower, the rear window heater must be turned on Rolling Eyes

euangibson I'm with you every step of the way Thumbs Up

I too, hate all this automatic, nanny, mumbo jumbo stuff. At least we have the choice as to have the "auto lights" on or not, as for the wipers, give me back variable intermittent wipers like we had on the D2's & some of the base model D3's Sad

I'm on a same boat. Whenever I start on cold days (we have lots of them here during winter time...), I need to do the following key combo:
1) Turn on seat heater on drivers seat (almost 100% of the time)
2) Turn off rear window heater (95% of the time)
3) Turn off windscreen heater (80% of the time)

So for me the automatic on/off selection should be exactly opposite to what they decided in the factory.

Get in.

Start car.

Press the stupid satnav acknowledgement.

Turn off rear screen.

Turn off front screen.

Turn on heated seat.

Turn on heated wheel.

Yep, every cold day I undo the automatic selections and select other things instead. The car even turns on the screens when it has all been warmed already by the remote timed climate!

Also can't find the previous thread on this subject...
Very irritating to have the heated screens switched on when the car fairy thinks they should come on and not when I want them on. Can this be fixed with a tweak of the CCF via IID or Nanocom or similar?

In short, as far as I know, no one has found a way to disable it.
The pervious thread referred to discusses what a stupid feature it is and how it can't be disabled, not a way to disable it.
