HDC Fault

Shocked Does anyone know why I keep getting this message when I start up in the morning, (HDC Fault System not available). The message disappears after the engine is started and I haven't notice any fault with the vehicle while driving.
Can anyone give me advice on the above.
Thanks
Pilot

your battery will be low. . . .or on its way out.

the cold mornings will give it a big beating first thing. . .very common when the battery is comming to the end of its life...new battery approx £100. .
 Still miss my D3 Sad

your battery needs loading and in a while replacing.

I agree with those replies, had a similar problem, new battery sorted it.

You could spend every night recharging it if you wanted to top it up, but life's too short for me for that! Smile

Sad Ok chaps thanks alot for that info. I am another one that only travells a couple of mile to get to work in the morning so it doesn't give the battery enough time to charge up. Is the battery a sealed unit or can i put deionised water in there and then charge it up to see if it will make a difference. I don't suppose the battery has ever been changed since the cars life as it is approaching five years old but just gone 30K in milage so not to bad after all.

I have similar problems with my motorbikes and low mileage. I use an Optimate (don't think they do 'em for cars sadly), just to keep the battery in topped up condition on the bikes Smile

Though I did read on a Toyota MR2 website (wash my mouth out Rolling Eyes ) that those who only did small mileages in their MR2's used a Maplin solar charger. Not too good overnight I would guess Rolling with laughter

ended up in Halfords tonight as the HDC issue was there this morning, alongside -8degrees in Devon. Can't risk it not starting (took a while on Sunday) so stumped up the £130 for the Bosch battery, including the £4.99 for fitting. Have to say, was the best £4.99 I've spent as it was a Censored to change in the freezing conditions tonight.

Looking forward to easier starting with no warnings tomorrow

Mine did the same 12 months ago during winter - at every start up, brief flash of HDC unavailable then gone and no problems. This did not return until 12 months later and the onset of the present cold weather ! I will hang on a little while longer until i decide to replace. I will probably opt for the one on ebay that has been mentioned here previously Very Happy

Certainly did. Best it's ever started. No special programmes off message etc

Now all I need to sort out is the FBH. Didn't realise I have one until reading the threads on here. Will try the fuse out reset tomorrow as it doesn't look like I'll be going to the office tomorrow
