Trailer LED Lights

Just bought myself a Car Transporter/Trailer (Ebay has a lot to answer for).

Trailer is fitted with LED lights, will this be an issue for my D3, will I have to fit resistors to the Indicators of the trailer if I want to tow it with the D3?

To the chassis away from anything else as they get warm and need to be able to cool easily. Either on the drawbar or behind lamps.

You need two things...

1. A resistor across each indicator. 6.8 ohm, 50 watts.

This will allow the car to "see" it has a trailer connected. The Towing light will flash on the dash when indicating, and the suspension will adjust itself. However all the trailer lights will still flash as the CANBUS driven ECU sends each light a test pulse. LEDs respond fast enough to show the flash, where an incandescent bulb will not.

2. A Bypass relay will filter out the pulses.

The resistors will need to be mounted in your lighting board or a box on your trailer. But as my lights are sealed i mounted my resistors in the boot with a double pole switch i need to turn on when towing.

All works perfectly.
