[SOLVED] Fast Idle and no movement on temp guage

My D3 (2.7TDV6) is fast idling and I have noticed that the temperature gauge dosen't seem to move.

I suspect a failed temp sensor and the ECU is constantly thinking the engine is cold (hence fast idle).

any info from the more knowledgable would be welcome

I have read that there is more than one temperature sensor and dont know where to start with the remedy.

many thanks in advance

Mine just had the oil temperature sensor replaced which has cured the same symptoms. Steve Norman fixed it and said there was a fault code logged. There's a coolant temp sensor as well so if you can get the fault codes / live values checked it'll save changing the wrong one. Good luck!

I plugged it in to my ethos box today and the oil temp was showing as -30 so sound like this may be the same problem as yours

Thanks for all the help and advice

Problem was caused by a broken Oil Temperature Sensor.

Replaced it and things seemed to have settled down for now... Thumbs Up
