Auto gearbox slip and clunk
Had this happen a few times ... Going slowly brake then A little slowing down to about 10 mph then accelerate but gearbox does not engage as if it's in neutral then after a couple of seconds engages.
I can't repeat this by doing the above but have noticed when trying to that sometimes when I accelerate after breaking slightly that they gearbox clucks as it re engages Most of the time it does not do this.
Car has got 72 k miles and gearbox oil was changed last year, any ideas what's causing the above thanks2005 HSE TDV6 in Bonatti Grey

Gear change cable linkage can stiffen up causing these sort of problems.

Booked in next week to get linkage changed however now getting worse with transmission fault displayed plus when I brake when going slowly I'm noticing that the 'D' in the dash goes out briefly is this another problem I wonder dud I read about a faulty brake light can cause tranmussion faults2005 HSE TDV6 in Bonatti Grey

Definitely change your brake switch and bulbs before doing anything else. The linkage could be playing a part too but definitely start with those two things - cheap and well known to cause problems. If not them, you have some spares to keep in the boot.2008 RRS TDV6 - Chawton White/Black/Lined Oak - 20's, h/k, sunroof - 350K KM.

It was the pivot lever causing the problem - lots of corrosion and it was seized. Took it up to my local specialist this morning with the parts he was very sceptical that this would fix the issue but I said can you change them anyway because disco3 forum says this what it is. Anyway went up to collect it and he was eating his words and said it was the pivot lever after all, he's been working on disco's for years and it's the first time he has seen this! I thought the gear lever wasn't stiff but looks like it was as it now moves much more easily I guess it must of got stiffer over time and I hadn't noticed it.
Anyway a big thank you once again to disco32005 HSE TDV6 in Bonatti Grey

Had exactly the same a couple of weeks ago, lots of lube and new linkage ordered from AF.
All sorted.

Could sum1 plz explain a little why linkage would do OP post fault plz. As once in gear the linkage has done its job and any slip would be in the gearbox with potential clonks in the driveline.
Thx

Because it is seized, there is always tension on the cable, which drags it out of gear My D3 Build Thread

I also noticed before I took it to the dealer that if it was in drive I could simulate the fault by moving the gearlever very slightly i.e. Only by 1 mm and it would slip into neutral so another way of spotting that it's the pivot fault causing the issue.2005 HSE TDV6 in Bonatti Grey
