Electric seat connectors

Hi!

Does all the D3`s have connectors/plugs for electric seats? I have a 05 SE with manual cloth seats and are going to replace them with electric seats. I also have the base radio (low-line / CD 400).

Can I easily locate these connectors under the seat or do I need to take out the driver seat to see them?

It says 05 in my post above Wink ! My current manual cloth seats have heating in front and rear seats.

I have taken some photos from under the seat.

The last photo shows that this connector have room for several plugs, so I guess it is plug and play for electric seats?

Embarassed clearly didnt read your post correctly .....

So looking at the pics you have posted it looks to me that your existing rear seats are already connected for heated seats .

The connector under the front seats is the same one as you would plug into for electric seats , you need to move a few wires around to make them work albeit in pulses about 5 seconds long on the driver seat . The seat memory module and heating will not work without a lot of work . By byepassing the memory module you can adjust the seats Thumbs Up

Hope this helps

Thumbs Up

Crying or Very sad really must get to specsavers ..... you already have heated seats in the rear Thud

So .... as you already have heated seats then these will work on the electric seats Thumbs Up . The front passenger seat will work with a swap over Thumbs Up . The driver seat depending on which elsectric seats you use may or maynot Thumbs Up . If the drivers seat has memory then the memory will not and you will need to move several wires on the plug to bypass the memory module to get tthe seats to move .

Think that nails it Thumbs Up

Hi!

Yes, all of these pictures are from under the driver seat (LHD). There is a heavy loom coming from the floor, but you say the memory wont work? How can I tell? Are there any obvious connectors or looms missing? How can I find this out?

Isnt the memory module on the electric seat?

It may work .... just going to have to try it . IIRC there are 2 types of electric seat that LR used , 1 with straight electrics then on the HSE with memory .

Cant say any furrher as to if memory seats will or wont as i fitted HSE to my base spec D3 .

Good Luck

Thumbs Up

Wiring changes for 5 second burst of adjustment

Hi Simoniz, Would it be possible to provide the steps necessary to modify the drivers seat loom wiring on a Discovery 3 XS Commercial to permit the fitment of an HSE electric seat? I would like to get more than a 1 second burst of movement? Thanks in advance. Andy

As has been said above, passengers seat is a straight swap and will(should) work straight away. You need to move a few wires around for the drivers seat do a few search’s here and you’ll find the wires that need switching. If it’s a memory seat it will work in 2 second bursts amazing how fast you’ll get used to that. I don’t think anyone found a way to overcome that. It’ll take a few minutes to get the drivers seat working.

Sorry but busy work wise currently so I can’t help much for the next few days. It depends on what seats you are putting in? Memory or not? Etc. The info you need is on this site if you search. From what I remember it’s only wires in the black plug with the bolt holding it together that need changing around. It’s relatively simple. The plastic trim covers on the seats bolting them to the floor are Censored to get off. Before you bolt in the new seats check that the seatbelts click into the buckle on the new seats, on mine they wouldn’t fit so I had to take the seats out again (unbolt and wires) to swap over the buckle and pretensioners. Don’t start until you read up on disconnecting the battery for at least ten minutes before starting and while you are doing the swap over, you are dealing with a lot of airbags and pretensioners

Swap the passengers First for practice it’s plug and play 20 to 30 minutes job.

Now if you are hoping to get heated seats working.... that’s a whole and other different story Whistle

hi Erea

also had the pleasure of doing this by retrofitting the seats to electric

found it confusing at first with the wiring to bypass the memory ecu but as u say is easy after reading the info in here
