SDV6 battery newbie question
Our SDV6 2012 HSE needs a new battery - the question I can't get to the bottom of is which sort to buy? It has the factory fit Webasto Evo FBH which will get used at least 5 days per week prior to a 25 min commute. I can have a battery from sub £90 (err probably not) right up to AGM Exide for about £180 (maybe if the typical cost per year of battery life is actually OK compared with more frequent changing). So........ What is the actual manufacturers spec and what would the helpful folk of the forum advise would be the best choice based on the criteria in my mind?

If you give him a call he'll be able to guide you to the correct spec for your motor - I updated to a AGM through him about a year ago - no problems at all and it was way cheaper than I could see elsewhere Stolen - D4 Loire Blue

We sell a standard battery (019) with a five year warranty for £71.71 plus VAT or an AGM for £118.12 plus VAT but have no means of shipping them with our couriers. So there is your guide unless you fancy a drive to Southampton.

As above, spend the moola and get the AGM as it can take a bit more abuse than a standard one as to discharges and quicker charges...FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

Hi Mark, regardless of which type of battery you end up getting, and the AGM will give you a slight improvement in recharge capacity in the short drive times you are doing.
The issue is more about the short drive time you are doing, after the heavy use of your battery.
If it’s convenient, again regardless of what battery type you get, you might try charging and conditioning your battery with a battery charge, on a regular basis.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

What type have you got at the moment?- as I understand a D4 needs to be reset with diagnostics when a new battery is fitted regardless of type.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Good point Russel
Also you may not need a new battery, just a good (Ctek) charger. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Wow - thanks all - that's a lot clearer, Shame I am not in the area - I would love to buy from Steve - however now I know where to look for those mudflaps and the retro fit fridge plus Webasto remote arial and receiver I was planning on getting . Meantime armed with the spec and a target price I can get sorted (It's not under warranty but the vendor I recently bought it from will cover reasonable costs of a direct replacement - nice chap Alan from Corporate Cars over in Ravensthorpe). Will look at CTEK after I have run a few tests - this is the first time we have had the vehicle over winter so we've no idea how it will get on. Did see the 13 pin charger adaptor thanks to the forum so I know a nifty way of setting that up....
