HELP !!! Can't seem to get paintwork clean after a trip out
Hi Everyone,
So I've taken the discovery 3 off road on a 4 day camping trip, the car got really dirty with thick mud. It was left like this for about 3 days as the camping trip happened.
I've since had it cleaned but it looks like were the dirt has been washed off there is a stain like bird poo, no matter what I do I can't seem to get rid of the marks and there everywhere.
Anybody used there car off road and had the same problem ?

Was the car clean and waxed before you got it covered?

It's possible the mud was acidic and its damaged the top coat. Don't despare though, by using a light cutting compound you should be able to sort it out as its only damaged in the clear coat top layer.
You could use something like T Cut but it is rather harsh. I'm sure somebody will advise what they use that is a little kinder but I've found Meguiars 205 which is quite kind to your paintwork should do the job. Remember to wax after. Mods:

Seen as how you have washed the car taking the mud off. I would try a clay mitt using plenty of soapy water as a lubricant Halfrauds sell them like this one
.
It's a lot quicker and easier than polishing by hand if you don't have a machine polisher, the Megs 205 is great and megs 105 for a slightly more abrasive compound, megs ultimate compound is great as well
but it ain't cheap, 3m products do the same thing also from halfrauds if you go down this route you
will lose the feeling in both arms for a week so i would try the mitt if it was me.
Have fun

I have an orbital machine polisher that I have used on my car if you want to give it a try?

Sorry guy's I think the important part is being missed. It is not polishing that's required
but cleaning, hence use the mitt first it will decontaminate the surface of the paint first
then if required polish?
Think of it as polishing your car after rainfall, any muck in the rain even after drying would be
ground into the paint? defeating the object of polishing all together.

Thank you everyone, I'll get some pictures up once we get light in the morning. Hopefully it will be something easy to sort.
MGCarr I might have to take up up on that offer
Funny thing is I had it waxed before the trip and this still happened !! Maybe I'm using the wrong company to clean my car !!

Does it feel rough to the touch like there are little bits of grit on the paint?
Would not have thought the contaminents would have been bad enough to leave marks like that and if they are clay mit will not shift that lot.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I know you have cleaned the car and marks and stains are still present, just a idea did you wash the car in sunlight and or do you live in a hard water area, if so it could be just water marks from the car drying to quickly and these marks can be a right pain to get out, they have a white appearance to the stains? if that's the case.
