Low fuel warning.
Driving home tonight the car decided it no longer had 3/4 of a tank of fuel & announced a "low fuel warning" & the fuel gauge went to zero. Moments later it returned to normal.
This is my first problem with the Disco 4 in two years.
Having searched other threads, I'm guessing that the fuel sender is probably the culprit.
It appears that my warranty may not cover this (if it's wiring) so I am going to have a look at it on the weekend before deciding what to do.
There are no fault codes stored.
My question is, can you access/remove the fuel senders without removing the tank. Mitsubishi Outlander Phev 4H 2018.

It might not be the senders themselves - mine was the wiring between them & not covered by RAC warranty but not an arm and a leg to fix at Broadfields 2010 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand on GY DTs (was on GG ATs)

I would have been clear about this before they incurred any customer expense

The car has been repaired & the RAC warranty has picked up the bill in full.
It's only cost me my time & some fuel put in the loan Freelander.
I'll shortly find out what was done & post here.Mitsubishi Outlander Phev 4H 2018.

resurrection of an old 'ish thread
But Mr P, or anyone else for that matter
Did you get the cause of the problem?
SWMBO said last week that fuel gauge went to zero and no miles left in tank, but had been 1/4 full good girl that she is, pulled over, turned car off, then back on and back to 1/4 full
Been out today and Low fuel warning back on and staying on, filled the tank and reset the trip
its booked in for a service at Duckworths in a few weeks so they can sort it but can it affect anything else, is it worth getting the service done early ???

When my fuel gauge was intermittently playing up, the car drove normally.
The fault got more frequent & then the gauge stopped working completely.
The only paperwork that I received afterwards was this below:

Hi Robbie
Quote:
it can have quite an impact when the gauge reads zero - the car shudders a bit and then stops
.
Hopefully avoiding that scenario with the fill up and trip reset at least we will have a good idea when to fill up again.
just thinking about getting it checked as a priority or wait until the service.

You misunderstand slightly, if the system believes there is no fuel you come to a shuddering stop. It does not matter if you happen to have 80 litres in the tank at the time.
Worth getting it fixed as soon as possible.

OOOps thought you pulling my leg
that was what I was wondering if the car thinks there is no fuel and decides it should stop and calls a halt on progress
or its just the gauge that reads empty but has no detrimental effect I know the satnav uses the data from the gauge "not enough fuel to complete journey"
So concerned if anything else does.

Hi,
Had the car in for it's service, but the gauge had started working again
THey contacted the warranty company (L/R main dealer 2y extended )
Who DECLINED the claim said as L/R known issue they should pay
And here's me thinking I had L/R warranty
Duckworths contacted customer relations and they cleared the job to be done
May be worth knowing for others out of warranty ?
So tank dropped and connectors replaced
Fingers crossed its cured the problem ...... Time will tell
