Ceramic/dustless brake pads ?
I've just moved up from a 2007 petrol D3 to a 2012 SDV6 D4. On the old D3 I fitted Akebono ceramic brake pads all round, and was very happy with the result - great braking and no dust.
I'm now trying to find similar ceramic/dustless pads for the D4. Seems like I can use the same pads for the rear on the D3 and D4. But the front pads on the D4 are a different part altogether compared to the D3, and there isn't a matching part from Akebono.
Does anyone have suggestions for good front pads that are low/no dust ? I believe the original LR part number is LR051626.
thanks
Geoff

I did have a look at the EBC website but thought they don't list any pads for models from 2009 onwards - but I've just looked again and found some. Thanks

you need GDB1898DTE for a D4 front & GDB1632DTE for the rear D3 or D4
If you can't source locally we deal with TRW and can add them to our stock profile.Paul Redding

I like the thought of low brake dust - my front alloys are almost black at the moment

Thanks Steve, those TRW D-Tec's look pretty nice. If I can't find a local stockist I'll certainly check your website.
Maplecottage - the difference when I went from the stock pads to the Akebono's was dramatic. Since the change, the wheels seem to get no more dirty than the rest of the car (ie just general road grime buildup, rather than the traditional stubborn black grime).

Presumably any change to the ceramic pads would be best served with new discs also ??

I would recommend new discs just because it makes the whole new braking experience better but if they are not worn, cracked, warped or grooved in any way then strictly speaking there is no need.
I will add these to my stock range anyway.Paul Redding

Dustless brake pads does sound like a great proposition.

Low dust rather than no dust, TRW claim 45% less. BTW New - Product - My entire knowledge on the subject of these is reading the few paragraphs on their web site.Paul Redding
