GAP Insurance for new vehicle - recommendations WTD

Hi guys, contemplating GAP insurance to cover the difference between insurance payout and cost of a replacement for the first 3 years in the even of a total loss.

Got a great deal from dealers when I got my D4 in 2010, but they can't match it this time, so looking for recommendations. TIA Thumbs Up

Huge differences to be seen in costs and levels of cover. Lots of research for my last car turned up these people:

The cover that they offered was so much better than everyone else and the cost was amongst the lowest, they even do a 5 year policy.

Thanks guys. Will give them a call tomorrow Red Merle Thumbs Up

Dealer quote was £699 this time, compares quite unfavourably with the £135 I paid in 2010, but they say they are restricted these days and can't do insurance deals for individual customers anymore, "it's the same price for all nowadays" were the words, albeit very apologeticly. Hence I'm looking at options.

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Laughing you're right there.

Cheers will take a good look tomorrow. But initial stab was more acceptable with GAP to replacement being approx £350 and GAP to invoice was approx £260.

Thumbs Up

A very good friend of mine has just written of an Insignia Estate by hitting a bridge parapet (long story). Neutral

New it was £24k. Now worth (estimate some 18 months later) £15k.

He has GAP insurance. Lloyds Bank I think. He will get full payout. He is a lucky boy on several fronts.

I would say on £40k plus cars it is a must have.

I got GAP insurance for free when I bought my then new MY15 in March, happy days. Think they had targets which they hadn't hit.
 Cheers Scott.

Car2cover:

GAP to replacement value for a new HSE, for 6 years (1st year covered by own insurance, 5 year GAP period deferred for 12 months), transferable to a replacement car, maximum claim value £50,000. No mileage limitation (which is handy, as 6 years will mean 150-180,000 miles).

Premium? £364 inc IPT Smile (with £214.04 of that already paid by the refund on my old Freelander's policy; cost to upgrade? <£150)
