HDC Fault. Suspension lowering :-( |
|
Had HDC fault during a short drive. car lowered to stops and went into Limp mode.
I pulled in and switched everything off, I let it sit for couple of minutes and tried to start it again.
No joy, turned over and over.
Bit of hair pulling and 10 mins later it started.
Read on here about usual suspects such as brake switches, wheel alignment etc
My concern is the fact it wouldn't start?
Anybody had anything similar? or could point me in some sort of direction?
Cheers

Did the hazards flash and doors lock/unlock while it wouldnt start?
EDIT: Ignore that
Sounds like a fuel pressure issue, possibly the in tank pump, or a blocked fuel filter... My D3 Build Thread

No Mike. Locks didn't move.
It was as if it wasn't getting diesel. They're seemed to be plenty of life in battery and turned over engine without any sluggishness.

Must have been!
I was thinking fuel filter, but why would that cause the failure and suspension dropping?

Essentially, The engine management shuts down (limp mode) to protect itself.
In shutting down, it looses comms with everything else on the HS CAN network, suspension, transmission etc. When it looses comms, the rest of the modules go into limp mode, and the car has a wobbly My D3 Build Thread

Brilliant, thanks for that.
Just after i bought the car, it had the, water in diesel message. I put it down to dirty plug at filter, as message never came back. I'll get one ordered.
Thanks again.

Would appear so...
Mike , if you happen to read this, I changed the filter and so far so good. Here's hoping. Thanks for your advice.
