[Wanted] Rear wiper motor and arm |
|
Hi
I am after the rear wiper motor assembly and arm for the rear of my D3.
When i brought the car a couple of months ago they had remover the rear arm as the wiper did not work so it would pass the MOT and they had lost it, I finally got round to looking in to the problem yesterday and found that the plastic/nylon guide had broken within the wiper mechanism and is unrepairable. Is this a common problem? They seem to be going for £60+ on eBay but that seemed a bit step to me?
Cheers
Neil

Yes, the gears inside the rear wiper motor are only plastic and not repairable.
I once took my D3 through a car wash which had some weird rotating hanging cloth arrangement at the end which supposedly dried the car.
One of the cloths got snagged on my rear wiper and pulled the rear wiper arm across the rear screen, stripping the gears in the process.
I've not used a car wash since!
I have a spare wiper arm (and old wiper motor) in the garage if that's any use to you?

Which gear did it strip? The big or little one? Mine has broke the guide of the small gear side. How much would you want for the motor and arm posted to Derby?
Cheers

Hi Neil,
Not sure which gear it stripped but you are welcome to the old motor if you want to have a go at repairing yours.
I'm not sure on postage; I will ask Big Dave for a quote. Also have a wiper arm for you.
I'm in the US next week so probably won't be able to get this to you until week of the 21st if you still want it?
Cheers,

Neil,
Sorry buddy, busy week when I got back. Yes, these bits are still available with your name on.
I will try to get the bits out of the garage for you this evening and get a shipping quote from BD for you.

Neil,
Parts located.
I have:
1 x DKB500690 Rear Wiper Arm (very good condition, pretty much unmarked for age)
1 x DLB500074 Rear Wiper Motor (stripped internal plastic gears)
The only other bits you need to complete this job are a nut to hold the rear wiper arm onto the motor spindle and a nut dust cap (assuming you have bolts to attach the wiper motor to tailgate mountings).
I can't guarantee that the motor is salvageable but it's certainly worth a try. I'll try to get a postage quote for you tomorrow.

I had a problem with rear wiper, motor was working but not wiping, I stripped the motor and also found the nylon cog had worn down, I managed to find a cog on eBay for about £4, Just needed to swap the metal contact from bad cog to new, fitted it and job done.

Was the cog advertised as a disco 3 rear wiper gear or did you just find one the was the same dimensions? Is it the same in any other car?
Cheers

eBay item number:131545779609
I did measure it first just to make sure was same size, also removed old cog and done a visual comparison, mine was for a mk1 Range Rover sport so probably be the same for a disco.
