Central locking resurrected! |
|
So sat here with a screeching park brake, inoperable central locking and starting to seriously consider of getting rid of Tonka after 147,000 miles and 10 great years of day to day use and safe long journeys down to the Alps twice a year.
Found sodden front and rear footwells recently and after investigating reckon it was either the front A pillar or possibly poor windscreen replacement years ago. The trunking area on the right side that carries the wiring loom was totally full of water.
So after removing all the water by mopping up, set up the dehumidifier in the car and walked away to consider my options.
Came back tonight and automatically activated the central locking on the fob - and to my surprise got a response. What a car, locking now working and having ordered the EPB kit from Steve and the gang at Advanced (thank you guys) and am amazed that the car worked so well when the entire cabling on the right side was under water probably for months.
Anyone else not had to identify and repair the central locking circuit?
Roll on the weekend to sort pillar repair and EPB.

Thanks to all the expertise on here |

Cracking afternoon,
Both A pillars sorted for leakage, found right side windscreen probable not correctly fitted when replaced years ago.
Still can't understand why with water in the right well with the loom under water will be sorted by the cut out and re-join on the left side which was dry.
But the car has central locking again. - and been to local dump to drop off thatch from summer house.
Thanks everyone
