so, i would have had the D3 for two weeks tomorrow and some 1500 miles, not many i know.
But is there any basic things to check over after this period of time.

Engine oil, and keep on checking every 500 miles.

Once you've done about 5-6,000 you can relax. Just the nature of the new engine block.

I topped mine up a couple of times (probably not much more than 1 litre in total) but haven't needed to since about 5000 miles. Recently got a dealer to do a oil and filter change at 7500 miles

Thought it about right, halfway to first service, it's a new engine and it's been given a bit of stick off road. I'm gonna get it done every 7,500, 15,000 is a bit long between changes in my mind The End

Did my first oil change at 3500 miles

Oil is only a problem if idling is prolonged or a lot of dust is found. The rest is a general service to make sure evrything is still working that is exposed. A crawl underneath is the best after an offroad session. Never forgetting wheels, brakes and tyres.

| Noise as suspension lowers when parked. |

My D3 has developed a noise similar to a horse having a short snort as the suspension lowers after parking. Initially this was always a quiet and smooth operation. before I go to the dealers to check it - is it a problem or not?  Allie

Its commonly known as the Disco Fart... should be just a 'fast release of air' noise and occasionally a 'clicking' as the car settles itself. If you have any other mechanical noise present it may point to a problem.
Mine has got more noticeable as the car gets older or maybe its the software that's now doing the job correctly.
